Alena Meier has been working on the role model of the artist, on this model's insignia, and on those accompanying the production of art.
She has been travelling in Russia for almost 3 months this summer aiming to realize a project closely connected to her previous work: visiting various cities in Russia (among them Nizhni Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, and Samara) she has met, interviewed, and in a way portrayed local artists engaged in contemporary art practices.
Her approach is an explicitly personal one. Alena Meier dispenses with the pretension to 'objectively' document/represent an allegedly 'given situation' and is thus aware of her own impact in any of the encounters.
